Journal Structure

The journal is a collaboration between the

• editors board (editors-in-chief, future editors-in-chief & former editors-in-chief),
• advisory board (reviewers, future editors-in-chief & former editors-chief),
• submitting authors and
• editorial office staff.

Members of the editors board jointly decide on the basic direction of the journal. Decisions on the fundamental direction and public appearance of the journal are made in this committee by a ⅔ majority. The committee meets every six months and is able to make decisions if the invitation to convene has been sent out in writing at least four weeks before the meeting and if ⅔ of the committee is present at the meeting. The meeting is convened by the editor(s)-in-chief.

The editors board is made up of current, former and future editors-in-chief. Members of the editors board undertake to assume the position of editor-in-chief for one year within four years. They are also actively involved in the conceptual design of the journal. When they are not editor-in-chief, they undertake to provide reviews.

The positions of editors-in-chief are filled annually from among the members of the editors board. Editors-in-chief coordinate the publications by soliciting submissions, checking the fit of submissions to the journal, commissioning reviewers and being responsible for the publication of articles.

Members of the editors board who are not editors in chief act as members of the advisory board during this period. Members of the Advisory Board declare with their membership that they will provide up to two reviews per year. If necessary, they will advise the editors board on the conceptual orientation and contribute significantly to the scientific quality of the articles with their reviews. With their submission, the submitting authors declare their willingness to provide a review as part of a distributed peer review process if required.

The reviews should be completed within 6 weeks of submission and made available to the editorial team and the editors-in-chief via the Open Journal System.

Guest editors may be responsible for special editions. They are committed to the journal's content objectives and publication ethics.
